Cell SPARs are predominantly used in the oil and gas industry for offshore production. These structures can be designed as either a single module or multiple modules connected together to form one large structure. A Cell SPAR typically consists of a series of cells that are each anchored independently by their own set of mooring lines, thus providing redundancy if one cell is lost from an event such as hurricane damage.

Single Point Anchor Reservoirs are used in Buoy to provide buoyancy for the anchor. It is also referred to as an “anchor weight” or a “ballast device” and it can be either fixed or floating. The surface area below the water level has no effect on its capacity to do so because it does not have to resist any stresses due to motion like hull shape would if attached directly below it.
