Manual Actuators:

Manual actuators are those which require a human to physically move the dampers. They can be used as manual override systems in case of electrical failure, or for ships with redundant control circuits where each circuit is manually controlled through separate switches. In addition, it has been observed that there is a significant demand from vessels operating under harsh environmental conditions such as long-range RoRo and short/medium sea sectors who typically opt for manual damper actuation due to high reliability over time rather than relying entirely on electric motor driven devices.

  • Protection from high temperatures that result when vessel holds fires occur during loading/unloading operations with hazardous cargos such as sulphuric acid, caustic soda, etc. It protects cargo & crew members too.

 

Navy Vessels:

In Navy vessels, Marine Fire Damper is used as a controller for the watertight doors. In case of fire on any deck, it automatically closes/opens all penetrations up to that level and controls airflows from forward to aft side in order to contain the smoke inside the compartment.
