Passive devices tend not to be adjustable from outside of the device itself, but they can have selectivity over their passband (allowance for certain signals). Active Frequency Filters:

Active filters are frequency selective devices that consist of inductance and capacitance components. Active filters can be used in a variety of ways, including tracking the bandwidth of an input signal to provide constant voltage output at specified frequencies or as a band-pass filter for signals with limited bandwidths. The most common form is composed of several parallel reactive elements, each consisting of capacitor and inductor connected together.
