Recycled PET Fiber is a new type of fiber made from recycled plastic bottles. The process starts with an end-of-life bottle that has had its original contents removed and been cleaned down to the raw resin, which is called RDF (residuals derived fuel). This material is then blown into long fibers where it becomes like wool or cotton in softness. These are spun into roving for knitting yarn or fabric, cut up as staple fiber, thermally bonded together as sheeting, or molded into pellets for other production processes—all without any use of water or toxic chemicals.

Recycled PET Filament:

PET filament is a continuous thermoplastic polymer, made by drawing polyester fibers. PET filaments are used to create textiles or plastic films that can be recycled again and again because they don’t degrade easily in nature thanks to their high molecular weight. These materials are also more environmentally friendly than many other plastics since they contain no chlorine, which makes them 100% recyclable.

 

Recycled PET Staple Fiber:

Recycled PET staple fiber is a type of recycled polyester that has been processed to make it into long, continuous fibers. The key difference between this product and other types of recycled polyester fibers is its length, which ranges from about 0.25 inches (0.64 centimeters) up to several feet in some cases. Recycled PET filament can be woven or spun just like virgin polymer materials, but because of the strong nature of these filaments, they are often used for non-woven applications such as carpeting and automotive headliners as well as insulation products for home building construction projects.

The home furnishing segment is the fastest-growing application of recycled PET fiber; it accounted for more than 37% in 2017. The primary application of recycled PET fiber is in the manufacturing of filter materials.
