Pipelayers that fall in the 20,000 to 50,000 Kgs range are also referred to as heavy-duty pipe layers. They include both crawler and truck-mounted cranes which can be used for the construction of large diameter pipelines across long distances. Heavy-duty machines like roadheaders and tunneling equipment such as breakerless drills (BLD), jumbos or big bore breakers, etc., would also come under this category. Above 50,000 Kgs types of pipelayers are Permanently Laid Pipe Layer (PIP) and Floating Pipeline Layers. Above 50,000 Kgs types of pipelayers are ideal for construction projects that involve large diameter pipes.
