A stent is a small, flexible tube made of metal mesh that's inserted into the body near an obstruction. It helps keep an artery open or supports other structures like the urethra to allow normal flow through it. It can be used for many conditions including angina (chest pain), heart attack, strokes, and narrowing from atherosclerosis in arteries throughout the body.
