Global Immunoglobulins Market by Type (IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE, IgD), By Application (Hospital, Research) and Region (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East & Africa), Forecast To 2028
The Global Immunoglobulins Market size is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.4%, during the forecast period (2021-2028), and reach USD 29.2 billion by 2028 from USD 18.6 billion in 2016. This growth will be primarily driven by the rising demand for immunoglobulin therapy for multiple autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. The increasing prevalence of chronic infections due to increased resistance among bacteria against antibiotics is also contributing towards the growth.
An immunoglobulin is a large protein molecule, typically produced by the immune system. Immunoglobulins form an important part of the immune response to infections and other diseases or injuries. They are also used as a medication for allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.
Immunoglobulins can be synthesized (produced by the body) or animal-derived, which includes human serum globulin and embryo papain inactivated adsorbed immunoglobulin; they are used for preventing infections from bacteria like Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae type B, and Salmonella typhi as well as viral diseases such as chickenpox, hepatitis A and measles. They also are found in many vaccines including diphtheria toxoid, rabies vaccine, and tetanus vaccine – this helps protect against developing these illnesses that may lead to death if left untreated.
On the basis of Types, the market is segmented into IgG (gamma-globulin), IgA (alpha-globin), IgM(mu - globulin), and IgE.
IgG (gamma-globulin):
IgG is a partition of the immunoglobulin G (IgG) class. IgGs are one-third of all serum proteins and half of that in the bloodstream, making them the most common type. These molecules are also important for immunity: they interact with invading cells by binding to their surfaces as lectins or antibodies do, but instead of tagging these invaders for destruction, IgGs tag pathogens to make it easier for other immune components such as mast cells and phagocytes to recognize them.
IgA (alpha-globin):
Immunoglobulins are a type of protein produced by plasma cells and monocytes that recognize specific antigens. IgA is the most abundant immunoglobulin in body fluids, found on mucosal surfaces such as those lining the respiratory tract or intestines. It provides immunity to bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other foreign organisms from inside our bodies by binding these harmful substances with antibodies that neutralize them before they can do any harm. This protective mechanism also applies to food particles (proteins) eaten in order for us to absorb nutrients properly.
In addition, IgA helps regulate inflammatory reactions throughout the immune system because it contains an enzyme called Amyloid A which prevents inflammation when released into blood vessels. Hence, this immunoglobulin protects the body from both infections and inflammation.
IgM(mu - globulin):
IgM is the major immunoglobulin in human colostrum and breast milk. IgM is the third most common immunoglobulin in serum and consists of two different heavy chains. It is primarily found on plasma cells, macrophages, and B-cells; it plays a key role in immunity to protozoans. IgM antibodies can neutralize toxins by binding their receptors or block infection by coating viruses with antibody molecules that identify them for destruction.
IgE Immunoglobulin:
IgEs, or immunoglobulin E, is a subset of antibodies that help defend against environmental substances and microbes like bacteria and viruses. These specialized cells work by binding to molecules outside the body called allergens which can cause allergic reactions when they come into contact with the skin or respiratory system. In most cases, there will be an immediate reaction (wheezing/asthma) but it may take hours for symptoms to occur; this time period between stimulation and symptom increase due to secondary exposure where sensitization occurs through re-exposure. Treatment usually involves medications such as antihistamines, decongestants, inhalers, steroids, etc.
On the basis of Application, the market is segmented into Hospital and Research.
Hospitals:
The Immunoglobulin market in the hospitals can be attributed to factors such as increasing number of patients with allergies; rising geriatric population resulting in higher prevalence of chronic diseases like asthma; growing incidence rate for allergic rhinitis which are linked to immunoglobulins deficiency; extensive research on innovative ways to treat allergies by using immunoglobulin therapy drugs etc.
Research:
Immunoglobulin is used in research for a variety of purposes. Immunoglobulins are often put into vaccines to stimulate antibody production and immunity against diseases like tetanus or hepatitis A, which use the immune system’s B cells to identify invading bacteria and viruses respectively. In animal studies, immunoglobulins can be added to healthy animals as a way of measuring response rates from other treatments being tested on these animals.
On the basis of Region, the market is segmented into North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Middle East & Africa. The US dominates the North American Immunoglobulins Market owing to the availability of various types at affordable cost with a short turnaround time from suppliers. Canada’s desirability creates an opportunity for manufacturers to explore their potential share in this field by concentrating more on manufacturing facilities there). However, it has a relatively small population and it is difficult to encourage patients to undergo a health screening.
Many players are focusing on the Asia Pacific region due to technological advancements in this market as well as an increasing need for immunoglobulin therapy drugs. Light competition between leading players that focuses on innovative treatments and novel applications will drive the growth of this regional market over the coming years.
