The LiCoO₂ battery, also known as the lithium cobalt oxide or LCO battery is a type of rechargeable non-recycled Lithium-ion battery with a typical voltage range from about 0.65 volts to about 0.75 volts per cell (depending on discharge rate). The LiCoO₂ battery is similar to the older Lithium-cobalt dioxide or LCO² cell. The main difference between them is that while both use lithium and cobalt, the LCO also employs manganese oxide as a cathode material in addition to carbon (0.005% for each).

 

NMC/NCA Battery:

NMC stands for Nickel Manganese Cobalt and NCA is Nickel Cobalt Aluminum. The two different chemistries have great similarities in performance, that's why they are often grouped together as one type. NMC has a higher capacity than LFP, but it is less stable and more expensive. NCA batteries are often used in electric vehicles that have to last up to 500 cycles for long periods of time without needing replacement.

 

LiFePO4 Battery:

LiFePO4 is a lithium battery that utilizes Lithium Iron Phosphate as the cathode material. The technology offers high energy densities and long cycle life, but it is not rechargeable. LiFePO4 batteries are low-cost rechargeable batteries that can be used for the same purposes as standard LiCoO4 batteries, but without some of their disadvantages. For example, they don't suffer from 'coulombic inefficiency' and are more stable than other chemistries (such as Lithium-Ion) when exposed to high temperatures.
