A silicone tracheal cannula is a tube that is inserted into the patient's throat in order to provide air. The silicone material makes it easier for the caregiver as they are not required to push down on the patient's tongue. This device has an inflation valve attached, which connects with oxygen or other gas supply and allows the flow of these gases through the flexible tubing.

 

PVC Tracheal Cannula:

A PVC Tracheal Cannula is a tube made of polyvinyl chloride that facilitates the exchange of air from and into the lungs. PVC Tracheal cannulas are often used for various medical purposes, such as assisting in breathing or administering oxygen therapy during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). They can also be temporarily inserted to provide emergency care when an individual cannot breathe on their own due to trauma or respiratory difficulty.

The PVC tracheal cannulas are more affordable in comparison to the silicone tracheal cannulas, but they have a higher risk of developing cracks or tearing on insertion.

The use of Tracheal Cannula in Hospitals is mandatory for individuals with respiratory complications that cannot be treated by medication.
