Styrenic block copolymers are terpolymer materials with styrene as a major constituent. Styrenes, which account for about 40% of the world's plastics production, consist mainly of polystyrene and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene). They offer better processability than their methyl methacrylate counterparts because they have higher free volume contents. The properties that make this type of polymer appealing to manufactures include elasticity, impact resistance, chemical resistance, and proximity to the glass transition temperature. ABS is an example of styrenics used in automotive applications such as bumpers on automobiles or other vehicle components where it may be exposed to harsh chemicals like fuels or oils during its service life.

Styrenic block copolymers are a subclass of styrenes. A typical SEBS polymer will consist of an elastomer and a rigid, hard segment that may be made from polystyrene or ABS. The high stiffness imparted by the hard segments allows for better processability during manufacture to form films, sheets, plasticized PVC pipes, and other molded parts as well as improved mechanical strength compared to homopolymer blends when compounded in semi-crystalline thermoplastics such as PS (polystyrene). This property also makes these types of chemicals more suitable than their counterpart methyl methacrylate plastics for applications requiring proximity with glass transition temperature like cables insulation due to its excellent heat resistance performance.

SEBS

SEBS styrenic block copolymers are made through the condensation of two monomers and have an ethylene-styrene base. They can be made by polymerizing together styrene and butadiene in an alternating sequence, or they may contain other polymeric segments as well. In this case, SEBS is also known as a semi-additive elastomeric block copolymer (SAEBC) or styrene-butadiene elastomer (SB).

SEBS is often used in automotive applications for door seals, gaskets, and other flexible products due to its toughness. It also has a relatively high heat resistance performance because of its ethylene base which makes it an excellent choice when working with glass transition temperature materials like cable insulation. The low cost of production is another reason why SEBS became popular among manufacturers.

SIS

SIS (styrene-isoprene-styrene) is a block copolymer that has found its way into the production of adhesives and coatings. It consists of styrene molecules, which are polymers with repeating units containing mainly carbon atoms, hydrogen atoms, and unsaturated bonds (-C=C-) in a chain structure. Styrenes have only one double bond for every two single bonds between them; this means they're more reactive than other common plastics like PET or PVC which contain hydrocarbons. They also require fewer end groups to provide effective properties such as flexibility or water resistance when applied to surfaces because they can form different molecular structures depending on their surroundings - unlike most elastomers that do not change their molecular structure.
