PET also finds use as packaging film which can be laminated with PVC to make it waterproof. In some cases, PE (polyethylene) layers may be added on top of the primary layer to provide further protection against punctures from sharp objects.

PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride, it’s an oil-based material and can be used to make all sorts of things like pipes, wire insulation, floor tiles, siding, and more. PVC also has many advantages over other plastics including being strong (can resist tearing easily), malleable when heated up and quick to cool down again after heating up (allows it to be shaped into different shapes) as well as resistant to breaking or cracking with age.

Polyvinyl chloride is lightweight compared to polyethylene but heavier than vinyl sheeting materials such as mylar film so it's often paired with these lighter-weight sheets for insulation.
