Thermosetting material is a type of resin that has undergone an irreversible chemical reaction when heated. It is typically used in the production of contact lenses, but can also be applied to the manufacture of sunglasses and general lenses. Thermosetting materials are often stronger than thermoplastic materials because they produce a cross-linked polymer network when heated. This means that thermoset polymers cannot melt or deform before curing, making them more durable under repeated bending cycles for durability purposes as well as impact resistance.

 

Thermoplastic Material:

Thermoplastic materials are plastics that can be remelted and reformed over time. Polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, acrylics, and vinyl are examples of thermoplastics. Clear plastic food wrap is made from a type of thermoplastic called polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The lenses on your sunglasses may also be made from recycled or discarded items like old CDs or DVDs as well as other types of recycling material. There are two types of lenses: polarized and non-polarized lenses. These glasses protect against infrared light that may cause sunburns or eye damage during prolonged exposure to sunlight. Non-polarized lenses block out all light waves except those coming at right angles across your field of view (horizontally) because these can lead to glare and potential painful headaches called chromatic aberration caused by overexposure to UV rays. Polarization cuts down on blinding reflections like water droplets or snowflakes which might make it difficult to see the road ahead.

 

Contact Lenses:

The use of optical resin sheets in contact lenses is increasing due to an increase in the demand for dry-eye relief.
