This type of movement offers little or no "maintenance" other than changing its batteries when needed and some models require less frequent winding so that it does not run down before reaching an end of life (e.g., five years).

A smartwatch is a computerized wristwatch with functionality that goes beyond timekeeping. The watch may have features such as being able to control the user's smartphone, show alerts for incoming messages and email or show current data from an app on its screen.
