J-FET transistor is a three-terminal device with source, gate, and drain. The function of the channel region between the semiconductor regions in a depletion mode MOS structure (n+diffusion layer) or MOSFET's body region and its surrounding silicon oxide insulator under an applied reverse bias voltage results in changing characteristics of electric current flow as well as very high input impedance. It provides fast switching speeds that are not possible by bipolar transistors which operate using thermionic emission principle for conduction from emitter to collector.

Dual N-Channel:

Dual N-Channel is a J-FET transistor wherein two gates are used to control the current flow in both directions on the channel. It can be classified as an enhancement mode MOS device and has been widely used for analog switches, amplifiers, phase shift oscillators, etc.

 

N-Channel:

N-Channel is a J-FET transistor wherein one gate controls the current flow in one direction on the channel. It can be classified as a depletion-mode MOS device and has been widely used for analog switches, amplifiers, phase shift oscillators, etc.

 

P-Channel:

P-channel is a J-FET transistor wherein one gate controls the current flow in one direction on the channel. It can be classified as an enhancement mode MOS device and has been widely used for analog switches, amplifiers, phase shift oscillators, etc. P- channel has been mainly applied to digital circuits such as current limiters or comparators with some exceptions like RF amplification stages. Since it's an enhancement mode device, it does require a high source voltage (typically 0.65V) to operate satisfactorily at high frequencies (>300 MHz). The gate leakage current may cause problems when used for switching power supply control circuits that need a low on/off resistance ratio.

Analog Switches are semiconductor devices that act to electrically connect two or more circuit elements together. These circuits switch between high impedance state and low impedance state based on input signal levels which control voltage at the base terminal via electrostatic coupling with the emitter region.
