Hexanediol is a type of chemical compound that appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid. Hexanediol is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid. It has a strong unpleasant odor and low viscosity, which is more soluble in water than diethylene glycol or triethylene glycol. Hexanediol can be used as an anti-static agent for textile fibers; its commercial use at present mainly includes thinning agents for coatings, adhesives, and polyester resins.

Hexanediol (Dihydroxy Alcohol) is an organic compound that can be produced by the condensation of two molecules of formaldehyde with one molecule of water. Hexanediol has the molecular formula CH(OH)(CHOH). It belongs to the group known as polyhydric alcohols or diols. This makes it soluble in both polar solvents and non-polar solvents without hydrolysis occurring. Hexanediol (Dihydroxy Alcohol) is mainly used as a polymerization initiator, solvent stabilizer, and industrial lubricant agent in the production of polyurethane, coatings, acrylates, and adhesives.




Hexanediamide is a chemical compound. It can be used as an ingredient in some cosmetics and personal care products, such as makeup, shampoo, conditioner, or lotion. Hexanediamide also has other uses which include being part of the making process for polyurethane foam insulation boards and automotive soundproofing materials. Hexanediamide is also an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of flexible polyurethane and other synthetic elastomers. It can be found in adhesives, coatings, acrylates, plasticizers, or softeners for textiles and paper products. Hexanediamide may be a useful ingredient for developing waterproofing agents since it helps bind with pigments to form films that prevent moisture from penetrating through them.

Hexanediol is used in the production of polyurethanes. These flexible foams are widely used across various industries due to their comfortability like furniture-cushioning; bedding-mattress support systems or seat cushioning; automotive seating - head restraints, armrests and backrests, etc.; packaging--shippers/crates/boxes, etc., transportation protection - marine loading cells/chamber covers; home furnishings-carpet underlay, automotive and household floor mats; furnishings - drapes/window curtains, upholstery; and luggage, backpacks, and briefcases. This type of polyurethane foam is also used in the production of adhesives which are widely utilized for furniture reinforcement. Hexanediol has been identified as a preferred raw material for this application due to its easy availability, high purity, low viscosity, and non-toxic nature. This makes hexanediol cost competitive when compared with other substitutes like benzene or pyridine derivatives that offer inferior performance attributes. Polyester resins can be produced from hexanediol through the esterification process along with acid catalysts such as sulfuric acid at temperatures ranging between 100˚C and 150°C.




Hexanediol is a reactive diluent for coatings and adhesives. It has good compatibility with many polyester resins, acrylics, and alkyd-type paints to improve the film formation properties of these products. Hexanediol can also increase the surface tension which helps in control spreading during paint application. Hexanediol is used in the production of paints and varnishes. It also performs a vital function for the construction industry by providing a flexible material with excellent color retention when applied to concrete or plasterboard walls or ceilings.
