The Hematology analyzer is the equipment that performs various tests on blood samples to determine different parameters of the sample such as cell count, hemoglobin level, platelet number among other things. The process uses centrifuges or flows cytometers to separate out cells from whole blood based on their size and density so they can then be analyzed by one or more methods for further analysis which may include immunophenotyping using antibodies against surface markers like CD45, TER119, etc., fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) where fluorochromes are used to label specific targets in cells and light-scatter techniques such as Coulter counter technology.

 

Hematology Reagents:

Hematology Reagents refers to the reagent packages used in hematology analyzers. These are packaged together with an analyzer or sold separately and they contain various solutions, buffers, antibodies, etc. They are used as a diagnostic tool for blood diseases such as leukemia (for eosinophils), sickle cell disease (to identify hemoglobin S), and so on. It is also important to note that these products are regulated by the FDA under their 510(k) clearance process which means that they receive "a substantial equivalence" classification from regulators based on their similarity to products already approved within the USA market.

The major types of Hematology Reagent devices include blood collection tubes, micropipettes for drawing up samples from test tubes or vials, pipette tips to transfer fluids between vessels, microscope slides, and other laboratory equipment such as gloves and protective gowns. The reagents used in these analyzers are designed to bind with a target substance present in the sample under examination so they can be visualized more easily using fluorescent dyes or antibodies recognized by specific markers on their surface.
