The Global Electronic Grade Gases Market size is projected to grow from $5.7 billion in 2018 to $6.8 billion by 2028, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.2% during the forecast period. Increasing demand for semiconductors and displays in the electronics industry is expected to drive revenue growth over the forecast period.

Electronic Grade Gases are gaseous chemicals that are used in the production of semiconductors, displays, and photovoltaic products. It is made by a gas phase reaction process that combines gaseous reactants and produces low levels of contaminants at high purity, with adequate flow rates and stable pressures required to maintain proper deposition conditions during various processes such as Deposition, Etching, or Doping.

On the basis of Types, the market is segmented into Deposition, Etching, Doping, and Lithography.

Deposition:

A deposition is a process of depositing thin films onto a substrate. Thin films are made up of atoms or molecules which form one layer on top of another to create an even distribution and can be created by either applying heat for chemical deposition or using vacuum in physical vapor deposition. The most common material used in manufacture today is silicon dioxide from silica sand, granite, or quartz.

In electronic grade gas manufacturing, this technique is often used as it’s more cost-effective than other techniques such as etching and doping and offers greater flexibility in terms of what materials they can deposit into the semiconductor industry.

Etching:

Etching is a process that removes material from an object by localized chemical reaction. Etching has traditionally been used in the manufacture of integrated circuits, semiconductor devices, and printed circuit boards. It also finds use in removing materials such as metal or conductive pastes when they have to be selectively applied to particular areas of copper-clad laminate sheets during the manufacturing process.

In this latter application, it may also be referred to as 'surface micromachining'. The earliest etchants were nitric acid mixed with sulfuric acid; these chemicals are still sometimes used where there is no requirement for precision but their use on sensitive surfaces creates risks because of possible contamination and corrosion effects.

Doping:

Doping is the process of adding impurities to semiconductors, either elemental dopants or compounds in order to increase their conductivity. It can be done by various means including ion implantation and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).

Lithography:

Lithography can be defined as a technology used in printing and manufacturing, which is generally the process of transferring a design onto some surface.

On the basis of Application, the market is segmented into Semiconductor Industries, Displays, Photovoltaic, and Others.

Semiconductor Industries:

The semiconductor industry is one of the major end-users of electronic grade gases. These gases are used for various processes such as deposition, etching, and doping among others. The use of Electronic Grade Gases in these applications has resulted in a significant increase in the production costs incurred by manufacturers over time.

Displays:

Electronic Grade Gases are used in display devices for semiconductor industries, such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and field emission displays. In addition to the use of gases like nitrogen or argon, oxygen is also an important component for these types of displays. Oxygen can be applied by either chemical deposition or sputtering methods during the manufacturing process to create thin-film transistors and other microelectronics that will power a display screen.

Photovoltaic:

Photovoltaic (PV) is a branch of solar technology that converts sunlight into electricity. Solar panels or photovoltaic cells are used to convert light from the sun into electrical energy. One key component in all types of PV systems are electronic grade gases such as hydrogen redox electrolytic liquid, which provide shielding gas for etching and process gasses during deposition processes like chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD).

On the basis of Region, the market is segmented into North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Middle East & Africa. The North American market is expected to lead the electronic grade gases market during the forecast period. The need for high-quality products in semiconductor industries, displays, and photovoltaic is anticipated to boost the demand for electronic grade gases in North America over the next ten years.

The US constitutes a major share of the Electronic Grade Gases Market with its advanced technologies and quality control systems as compared to other regions such as Europe or the Asia Pacific which are still developing their methods of production.

Growth Factors For The Global Electronic Grade Gases Market:

One of the major factors driving growth in the global electronics market is an increased demand for electronic devices. The rapid development and expansion of emerging economies such as India, Brazil, China, etc., coupled with a rise in per-capita income has led to an improved lifestyle that includes features like smartphones, tablets, and laptops among other gadgets.
