Galvanized Grounding Rod:

Galvanized grounding rods are pointed metal rods with a sharp point to make them easier to pierce the ground. They can be made from either steel or copper and used for grounding systems, lightning protection systems as well as earthing equipment in electrical substations. They are also known as grounding stakes or earth rods. It is the cheapest form of grounding equipment. Galvanized ground rods are commonly used in earth electrode system because it has excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance properties.

 

 

Copper-Plated Grounding Rod:

A copper-plated grounding rod is a thin sheet of copper that is stamped into the shape of rods. The thinness enables it to be easily bent and then straightened out for installation or removal after it has been in service or when transporting equipment over long distances. A grounding rod is a conductor used to dissipate the static charges on electric equipment. Copper plating of these rods increases their conductivity and efficiency in earth connection or ground wire bonding for earthing systems. The copper plating prevents the oxidation of steel and enhances its conductivity. The corrosion resistance offered by the coppered rods is higher than that of uncoated ones in most environments. Copper-plated grounding rods are lighter in weight than solid copper ones. The extensive range of sizes available makes it easier to find a suitable rod for setting up earthing systems, irrespective of the types and size of equipment being used. These rods offer easy handling during installation because they have smaller diameters as compared to other metal or alloy materials like steel or brass. The conductivity of graphite grounding rods is lower than that of solid and coppered copper ones. The resistance offered by these rods is higher as compared to other materials, such as aluminum or steel. Precision ground electrodes made from stainless steel are used in highly corrosive environments because they offer outstanding corrosion resistance even when exposed to certain acids and alkalis for a long time. These rods do not corrode easily due to the presence of chromium oxide on their surface which prevents oxidation reactions during exposure to moisture and oxygen-rich atmospheres.

 

 

Graphite Ground Rods:

Graphite Ground Rods are used to connect the grounding system of a structure with the earth. These are made up of carbon graphite which is strong enough to withstand any kind of pressure and at the same time, it also provides flexibility to maintain stability in all weather conditions. Graphite ground rods have high conductivity and work as a good alternative to solid copper rods. They are cost-effective too. Graphite is an electrical conductor, making it ideal for use as a ground electrode. It's also corrosion-resistant and stable at high temperatures without becoming brittle or embrittled. Graphite material can be used in the manufacture of electrodes that are either driven into the earth by means of a metal rod (the "ground" rod) or buried directly beneath the concrete.
