Binders Cathode Material:

Binders are compounds, e.g., epoxy resin that binds together the active material and carbon particles in a cathode to create an electrode with a high surface area or capacity for reaction (e.g., hydrogen production). Binder is a category of material that allows for higher conductivity and durability in battery electrodes enabling them to hold their structure during use. Binders are used in laminated boards and have the same properties as foils. They're often made from rubber or polymer compounds, which behave like glue for layers to stick together.


Foils Cathode Material:

Foils are thin, flat sheets of metal that are used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards and integrated circuits. The material can be made from different types such as copper-clad laminates or solder coated papers which come with a variety of thicknesses. Foils end up being a cheaper alternative to other materials for PCBs.

The electrical conductivity is determined by the type they use - traces will need something more malleable while signal lines might not require much flexibility at all. Some flatter foils won't have any insulation properties but this can be added on later with chemicals like varnish when assembling components onto them into layers or after soldering if it's too thick to do so beforehand without damaging tracks.


Active Materials Cathode Material:

The cathode material is a main component of the battery that determines its performance. These materials are used for constructing power cells that store electric charge and convert it to electricity when required by an electronic device. Active cathodes in batteries have two functions, they increase ionic conductivity between electrodes, thus increasing the battery's ability to discharge energy quickly, and they prevent gas bubbles from forming inside the cell during the discharge cycle leading to higher storage capacity with fewer memory effects.

Active materials can be found on capacitors - they store energy electrostatically until it reaches a certain voltage threshold whereupon that charge is released into another circuit to power them up again. The composition of active material varies widely depending on what type was chosen but some common ones include tantalum pentoxide and lead dioxide.
