Implantable Cardiac Pacemaker:

An implantable Cardiac Pacemaker is a device implanted in the body with electrodes that are connected to either wall of the heart, by transmitting electrical signals through an electrode wire. The Implantable Cardiac Pacemaker is placed under the skin on top of the chest muscle; it is then positioned near the left or right ventricle to stimulate contractions and regulate heartbeat.

Implantable Cardiac Pacemakers are used to treat various cardiac arrhythmias. It can either be an atrial or ventricular implant and is positioned near the left or right ventricle in order to stimulate contractions and regulate heartbeat. It also regulates heartbeat which in turn helps prevent fatal cardiac events like arrhythmia. The Implantable Cardiac Pacemaker helps prevent fatal cardiac events like arrhythmia that would result from bradyarrhythmias, tachycardia, congestive heart failure (CHF), among other conditions.

 

External Cardiac Pacemaker:

External Cardiac Pacemaker is an electronic device that is implanted to the outside of a person’s chest. This pacemaker is used in those with electrical problems who need extra stimulation to keep their heart beating at a regular pace. External Cardiac Pacemakers are also known as external cardiac pacing devices and they work by sending pulses from the pulse generator in order to maintain or restore the automaticity of one's heartbeat.

These devices work by sending pulses from the pulse generator, which may consist of an internal or external pacemaker device that sends impulses to stimulate contractions of the heart when needed. They often include leads that are attached directly onto one's heart muscle through small incisions on their chest wall or abdomen as well as electrodes placed anywhere on your body where you want it stimulated such as your back, neck, or arms.

They are used in those with electrical problems who need extra stimulation to keep their heart beating at a regular pace. In the majority of cases, External Cardiac Pacing is not permanent and can be discontinued once certain conditions have been corrected.
